Kein Sound mit Etch auf iBook G3 Clamshell

Hallo Allerseits, ich bin noch Fast-Anf?nger.
Hatte schon ein wenig mit SuSE 9 und Ubuntu gespielt und jetzt vor einer Woche Debian Etch auf einem iBook G3 Clamshell installiert. Das ist der Farbenfrohe, ca. Baujahr 1999. Es befindet sich nur Etch auf der Platte, kein Mac.
Ich habe Gnome laufen. Der Soundchip ist ein PowerMac DACA. Wie der Titel schon aussagt, kann ich der Soundkarte keinen Ton entlocken.
Ich gebe mal einige Daten rein, vielleicht bin ich nicht der einzige mit einem iBook und diesem Problem. 
Trotz tagelanger Suche im Netz habe ich kein brauchbares Ergebniss gefunden.
Ich habe alsaconf ausgef?hrt, den Alsamixer gestartet und auch alsamixergui installiert.
Ich bin nicht so traurig, wenn es nicht funktioniert, also keine L?sung gefunden wird. Aber trotzdem, so schnell werde ich die Flinte auch nicht ins Korn werfen.

Vielleicht gibt es hier noch einen oder zwei Macianer mit einem ?hnlichen Problem.
Irgendwie wird die Soundkarte oder der Soundchip nicht von Etch akzeptiert.
Oder sollte ich doch etwas ?bersehen haben.
